CUT-AWAY Backing
Excellent for maximum stability, this soft cut-away backing is ideal for use on sweaters, sports style garments, or any job where backing material will come in direct contact with skin.
Cut-Away is available in 2.0, 2.5, and 3.0 oz weights. Available in white and black, in various sizes.
WEBLON
Weblon is designed for the extra stability needed on jersey, interlock, and pique knit shirts. This ultra-lightweight SOFT'N'SHEER cut-away backing material is also used for very intricate embroidery designs. Great for knitwear.
Available in white and black, in 8" squares.
HOOP-N-PRESS
Iron-On, Stitch, Tear-Away
This iron-on tear-away is perfect for small items and difficult to hoop fabrics. The adhesive will not damage needles. Recommended for: knits, fleece, tricot, sweater knits, etc.
Instructions:
1. Set iron temperature for fabric type. Place fabric with the back side up on the ironing surface. For embroidery in hoop: Cut a piece 2-3 inches longer than hoop length.
2. Place the shiny side of Fusible directly to the back side of the fabric. Center Fusible length to assure each end will be caught in both ends of the hoop. Do not distort fabric weave or stretch fabric as you adhere the strip of Fusible.
3. Slowly press Fusible to the fabric. Press 5 to 10 seconds in each area to secure the Fusible.
4. Let cool, then stitch, applique, or embroider as usual. When complete, gently pull away the Fusible from the fabric stitching.
TEAR-AWAY Backing
Tear-away backing tears easily in both directions and is perfect for use on stable fabrics. Uses include: satin jackets, denim, bath towels, and similar items.
Stiffy Tear-Away backing is a thin, soft tear-away and excellent on clothing.
Tear-away backings are available in many weights. Light weight starts at 1.0 oz. Medium light weight is 1.5-1.6 oz. Medium weight is 2.0-2.5 oz. Heavy weight is 3.0-3.5 oz.
Tear-away backings are available in sizes of 6", 6.5", 7", 7.5", 8", 8.5", 10", 12", 15", and many other combinations of sizes. Also available in 10 yard rolls.
WAFFLE POP-AWAY Backing
This non-flamable, non-woven backing is made of 100% polypropylene, which makes it perfect for children's wear. It is designed to tear away clean with little residue, but is heavy enough to provide excellent stitch stability. Very soft against the skin.
Available in 8" squares in white.
TEAR-AWAY Adhesive
This sticky backing requires no heat and is perfect for small and difficult to hoop items. The adhesive will not damage needles. Great for hoopless embroidery.
Just hoop the Sticky Tear-Away, peel away the backing, and stick on the item to be embroidered. When through with the embroidery, simply pull the item off the Sticky Tear-Away.
Available in 6" and 8" squares, and in 8"x6 yard rolls.
GUNOLD SULKY SOLVY
Backing & Topping
This water soluble, bio-degradeable topping keeps stitches from sinking into terry knits, knit sweaters, and similar fabrics. Can be used on top and bottom of knits for lace. Keep unused Solvy in a closed plastic zip lock bag for best results.
ORIGINAL SOLVY in 10 microns and allows much more detail to be seen on any intricate design. It is available in 5", 7", 8", 10", and 15" squares. Rolls of 10"x10 yards or 8"x9 yards is also available.
SUPER SOLVY is twice as thick as Original Solvy. It is ideal when you do not want any stabilizer to show on top or bottom. It is available in 10"x10 yards, 15 yards, or 20 yards. Also in 8"x9 yards.
ULTRA SOLVY is four times as thick as Original Solvy. Great for lace work and where extra stability is needed. It is available in 8"x8 yard rolls.
To use Solvy:
1. Place Solvy on top of hooded fabric, or 2-3 layers underneath fabric as a backing.
2. After embroidering, tear away the larger areas of Solvy from inside and outside of the design.
3. Dissolve Solvy on small areas by lightly misting the area. It will disappear from the fabric at first washing.
4. On larger areas, mist lightly to dissolve. After a few seconds the dissolved.
